Leaves Eyes soon reach our country together with Atrocity, in a true display of voices and sounds unique and contrasting.

Styled with own label makers, put its maximum expression in return to the people who follow them all that magic that flows in a generational turn that endures over time.

To bring us a little closer to them, this time had the opportunity to chat with Liv Kristine, the angelic voice for excellence. Charm beyond her voice.

We invite you to spend and enjoy of this note.

HR-Enshrined in the genre that characterizes them, are called «beauty and the beast»by the antithesis which represent in terms of musical recording, and have achieved this mark an own label, how is the band today in so many years already living on the circuit?
Liv- I thank you for your compliment. Through Leaves’ Eyes we are keeping a spirit alive that I was part of creating and founding more than 20 years ago with my former band Theatre of Tragedy.
It’s funny to think about it…20 years ago I was co-founder of the world’s first gothic metal band with female voices «Theatre of Tragedy» in the early 90s and the «beauty and the beast» concept in metal. We had just no clue that we were this revolutionary up there in the Norwegian darkness! We were good friends, being into metal, getting together at a rehearsal room, being creative, combining contrasting elements like a first soprano angelic voice with doom metal and growls. We thought it was a great idea to combine contrasting elements. Initially people we were hanging out with and our families seemed to really like it, which surprised us. We recorded a cheap demo for a small fee nearby Stavanger, Norway, and sent it out (copying the cassettes and the inlay ourselves) to ten labels. A couple of weeks later we signed a killer deal with German Massacre Records, recorded our first album in Sweden with Dan Swanö and went on a support tour with our friends from Atrocity – our fist gig was sold out with 800 people, which was my first real gig ever…incredible! I am very proud to see that a handful of bands are doing really well and standing upright for this genre, keeping «the beauty and the beast/gothic metal» concept alive and in a good light! I grew up with Black Sabbath, a band where you definitely find contrasting elements, like e.g. metal and classical elements. I have always felt drawn towards the opposite  side, especially in art. I feel a kind of esthetic vision in combining darkness and light, the beauty and the beast.

HR-How do reconcile these fantastic stories that counted within the music scene,as it is the work beforehand to be able to count the same within a framework of instrumental and vocal,i would imagine that there will be an arduous process not only creative but research on the part of you, this is not the case?
Liv- I was born with a highly creative heart and mind and I do need to develop, to spread my wings within music and art generally, which also means to be involved with different musical styles. My friends and colleagues use to say that I have a «hyper-active» creative mind. I am so happy to be given this blessing. I’ve always been singing, even before I was able to talk, I’ve always loved all kinds of music. I used to think that every human being can sing and that every human has music in his or her head, all day long, sometimes even when dreaming, like myself. I never had any musical education, I never studied music. It has always been inside me. Today I know that what I have, this ability, is actually kind of special. So all is a natural process then.

HR-You are bringing to our country a new tour which have already carried out in other countries, which are your expectations in terms of its presentation here, have been preparing anything special, what are going to be surprised?
Liv-I can’t wait to meet our Latinamerican fans and friends again, I can’t wait to be back! I remember our crazy audience, our true fans and friends – you are all so passionate and great supporters. I met fans who are so warm-hearted and loving our music like nowhere else on this planet. I’ve been traveling across your whole continent quite a few times, actually. I was on tour with The Sirens earlier this year, as well. Unfortunately we had no promoter for Argentina, which is such a pity! However, I can’t wait to meet ALL our Latinamerican fans and friends again, and this time we will also ROCK ARGENTINA! Moreover, we will bring along a setlist with pearls from our whole career, from all our albums. Special surprise: we will also play one new track «Halvdan the Black» from our up-coming album!

HR-If you could define the moment that lives the band with a song, what would it be and why?
Liv-«Norwegian Lovesong», «Hymn to the Lone Sands» and «Ophelia», and two of the new compositions on our up-coming, sixth release…the titles are still a secret, of course!

HR-As maintained in the time a project such as the one of you, knowing that it’s a musical scene which takes a hard work by a wealth of sound and aesthetic both vocal and instrumental
Liv- I thank you for the compliment! To be honest….I am actually living a dream. I am able to combine both music and family, the two most important things in my life. I have many plans, however, I am totally satisfied and happy with what I have achieved. I have worked hard and I have seen and experienced a lot through all the touring. I have met so many beautiful fans and friends – you are the reason why I am the creative artist I have become, moreover, why I am feeling this creative and balanced. My fans are open-minded, really loyal and supportive from their hearts. As Doro said the other day as we were drinking coffee at Mastesound studio: we owe it to our fans!

HR-Finally,I’d like you to send a message to all the readers of our news media and of course the public that the expected in Argentina
Liv- Thank you from the heart to all our truthful fans and friends and loyal, hard-working fanclubs! We love you all!
See you soon!!

Hugs and kisses.
